Our ECDL Online Profile wins Best Practice Award in Warsaw

At the annual ECDL forum in Warsaw on the 7th of May 2015 ECDL Foundation gave out their “Best Practice Awards” in four categories. ECDL Foundation established the Best Practice Awards to acknowledge and credit initiatives and projects that show best practice in using ECDL to raise levels of digital literacy or that promote ECDL. About 140 ECDL representatives from all over the world voted for their favourite per category.

In the marketing category the prize went to ECDL Switzerland for the implementation of the ECDL online profile. Candidates can access their test results and certificates, and share them directly to social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and XING. In the first year already, more than 12,000 candidates made use of the online profile.

The winning initiative for the category ECDL in the workplace used the ‘Intro to ICDL Base’ module as a bridge between ‘EqualSkills’, a course for people with no prior experience of using computers, and ICDL Base and Standard modules targeted at older people, who may only now be adopting digital technologies.

Our colleagues in Austria won the Best Practice Award in the category ECDL in society with their project to support the professional and social integration of migrants in Austria. The initiative, under the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF) has resulted in 231 ECDL Standard graduates and 288 ECDL Advanced graduates.

The winning initiative from Poland in the category ECDL in education aimed to raise the ICT skills of 100 teachers, mainly in rural areas of Poland. With a significant increase in participants’ digital knowledge and abilities, the teachers were able to gain a certificate from the Polish Information Processing Society, as part of the ECDL Profile curriculum.
