The syllabus for IT security has been updated and adapted to changes in technology such as the widespread use of cloud services and mobile devices. The changes to the ICDL IT security syllabus include concepts on the safe use of IT in daily life, like knowing about app permissions, as well as practical tasks such as being able to set up and use a personal hotspot. In addition, certain items were left out to avoid overlap with other modules, especially Online Essentials (e.g. understanding cookies, digital certificate).
With the start of the schoolyear 2016/17 all IT security tests (diagnostic tests, certificate tests and assessment tests) in all languages will be based on syllabus 2.0. You can download this syllabus as a PDF.
The new tests will contain some practical hotspot tasks and not only consist of theoretical single choice questions. These include e.g. scanning for viruses and encrypting a folder.
